1. Overview

Chately ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website chately.app and provides an AI chatbot builder service. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use our platform.

By using Chately, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect your email address and a hashed password (managed securely by Supabase Auth). We do not store plaintext passwords.

Chatbot configuration

Content you enter when building your chatbot — business name, FAQs, opening hours, services, contact details, system prompts, and any documents you upload — is stored and used solely to power your chatbot's responses.

Conversation data

Messages exchanged between your website visitors and your chatbot are logged to provide analytics, conversation history, and to improve response quality. Each message is associated with an anonymous session ID, not a user account.

Lead data

If you enable the lead capture feature, visitor-submitted names, email addresses, and phone numbers are stored and accessible only to you through your dashboard.

Payment information

We do not store credit card or payment details. Payments are processed by Stripe (USD) and SSL Commerz (BDT). We only store a record of the transaction amount, currency, plan, and a transaction ID.

Facebook Messenger

If you connect a Facebook Page, we store the Page ID, Page name, and a Page Access Token provided by Facebook. Messenger conversations are stored to display them in your inbox and to generate AI replies.

Usage data

We collect anonymous usage metrics (page views, performance data) via Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to improve the platform.

3. How We Use Your Information

To provide, operate, and maintain the Chately service
To authenticate you and protect your account
To generate AI responses to your chatbot visitors using Anthropic's Claude API
To display analytics and conversation history in your dashboard
To process payments and manage your subscription plan
To send transactional emails (e.g. email confirmation, password reset)
To detect and prevent fraud or abuse

We do not sell your data or your visitors' data to third parties. We do not use conversation data for advertising.

4. Third-Party Services

Chately uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

Supabase— Database, authentication, and file storage

Anthropic (Claude AI)— AI language model powering chatbot responses

Stripe— USD payment processing

SSL Commerz— BDT payment processing

Meta (Facebook)— Facebook Messenger integration

Vercel— Hosting, analytics, and performance monitoring

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your chatbots, conversation history, and lead data are permanently deleted.

Payment history records are retained for up to 7 years to comply with financial regulations.

6. Data Security

All data is stored on Supabase (hosted on AWS) with row-level security (RLS) policies ensuring each user can only access their own data. All data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. API keys and secrets are stored as environment variables and never exposed to the client.

While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.

7. Cookies

Chately uses cookies solely for authentication session management (set by Supabase Auth). We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this will prevent you from logging in.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your data (via Dashboard → Settings → Delete Account)
Export your conversation and lead data
Object to or restrict processing of your data

9. Children's Privacy

Chately is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Chately after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
